Water is arguably our most precious natural resource and has been and continues to be an integral part of the development of human society. Many of us are misinformed about the availability of water and often take this limited resource for granted. Water usage is necessary for a vast number of societal applications from agriculture, drinking water, and sanitation to name a few. It is well known that we are wasting billions of litres every day, from food production to recreation purposes. With increasing water restrictions, higher utility costs, and stormwater requirements becoming more important than ever for Ontario residents, rainwater harvesting can provide a solution for this watershed moment.
The Waterloo Advantage
Reduces Water Bills by Up to 50%
Rainwater is a free resource. Collection of rainwater for reuse will reduce your municipal water usage and with ever increasing water utilities this can provide significant savings.
Reduces your Environmental Footprint
How much land area does it take to support your lifestyle? Implementing a Rainwater Harvesting System will reduce your impact on the environment, by reducing strain on municipal infrastructure and reuse of natural resources.
Completely Packaged System
Waterloo Biofilter offers a complete packaged Rainwater System to fit your needs. This ensures a more timely installation and reliability of components.
Qualifies for LEED Points
Rainwater Harvesting is an important aspect of sustainable developments. If you have a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) application you can attain 10+ LEED points through the use of a complete Rainwater System.
- Alleviates strain on water treatment facilities
- Recharges local groundwater supplies
- Saves potable water usage
- Provides payback
- Reduces surface runoff
- Rainwater has zero hardness, which can reduce water softener requirements
The Waterloo Process
Harnessing Nature’s Most Precious Resource
Rainwater harvesting is the practice of collecting precipitation from a rooftop or other surfaces, for the purpose of water re-use. Typically, rainwater is collected from rooftops, conveyed to a storage tank, and filtered before it is used as a non-potable source of water inside or outside the building.
Waterloo Biofilter Systems is the Ontario distributor of Graf rainwater harvesting components. These high quality components are pre-packaged into a complete, ready to install rainwater harvesting solution.
Captured rainwater goes through four separate filtering steps before reaching its intended use. If the water level in the storage tank is low the system can be equipped to automatically supplement rainwater use with municipal or well water thereby ensuring adequate supply. Waterloo Biofilter has many different options to fit the desired application including downspout filters, first flush diverters, storage tanks, in-tank filters, pump and controls.
These low maintenance solutions are ideal to reduce environmental impact. Waterloo also has solutions to fit commercial or municipal rainwater harvesting applications.
