PE-5 Polyethylene Tank Biofilters

PE-5 Polyethylene Tank Biofilters

Modular for phased-in developments

The PE-5 Polyethylene Tank from Waterloo Biofilter is a lightweight and modular onsite wastewater treatment unit. These above-ground units come pre-assembled and ready to hook up with minimal onsite labour. PE-5’s are housed in a new or existing maintenance building for year-round use, or can be housed outside in a protected area for seasonal-use applications. Each PE-5 unit can treat 5,000 L/day (1,320 US gpd) of commercial septic tank effluent to tertiary standards (< 10 mg/L cBOD & TSS).

PE-5’s are operated in recirculation mode to increase nitrogen removal efficiency. Each PE-5 treatment unit is equipped with a small fan that slowly circulates air throughout the tank to ensure aerobic conditions.

PE-5’s are fully sealed and vented to the outdoors through an activated charcoal filter. No odours are present in the Biofilter building, and it can also be used as a maintenance shop or for storage. PE-5 systems are easily upgraded to include additional equipment such as UV disinfection, wastewater reuse, or our WaterNOx™ BAF for enhanced nitrogen removal.

Our experienced staff will be happy to work with your project engineer or designer to help make your wastewater treatment system a success. Please contact us for more information on our commercial and high strength sewage treatment systems or to receive a quote for your specific application.

The modular nature of the PE-5 allows you to add treatment capacity over time as required, making them ideal for phased-in developments and to reduce up-front costs.
